TfLA developed a sustainable planting plan with no native grasses due to client allergies. The planting plan emphasized enhancing the infiltration of rain water back into the site and developing a sense of privacy since the house is in full view from the local shore road. Consequently, the pavement was reduced and the driveway replaced with a grassy paver drive to create a lush central green courtyard entrance.
To create privacy, the architectural plan adroitly placed a new garage and a narrow pool between the road and home to further the separation from the road. TLA and Dan Provost Landscape Contractors located larger spruce, red cedar, and ash trees into gaps in the ledge to create a dense planting buffer.
The sculptural quality and location of the proposed plant material was given extra consideration given the artfulness of the modern building design.
