The Cornerstone School - Statement of Purpose

The renovation of the grounds and play habitat of The Cornerstone School in Stratham was driven by the idea of integrating the Montessori teaching philosophy with the existing undefined meadow landscape.

The elevated water rill was conceived to compliment the school's philosophy and to separate the movement of toddlers from older children. In doing so, the serpentine fountain exists as a stand alone sculptural element - formed in three separately dyed concrete pours and embedded with fossils to reflect the process of time and sedimentation.

The project grew from an inspiring client, the expertise and artful concrete work of Melange Studio and with the site work of Dan Provost as landscape contractor.
